Awards Shows
MTV Has VMAs on Lockdown!

You want your VMAs? Pay attention -- this year you're only going to get one shot.

TMZ has learned MTV is set to announce tomorrow that the 2007 Video Music Awards will be held in Las Vegas on September 9 at the Palms Hotel and Casino. Not only will the awards show air that Sunday, but MTV plans on turning Vegas out that entire weekend. Time to book that Southwest flight!

In addition, what happens in Vegas really will stay in Vegas. The network, notorious for running its awards shows over and over ad nauseum, has changed its tune. This year's VMAs will only be seen once, broadcast live in its original form. Remixed versions of the show will be run, created by and for you -- the viewer. If you only want to watch the rap-related awards -- that's what you'll get.

We're told MTV thought the Palms' owners, uber-celebufriends the Maloofs, would be a perfect fit for this year's event.

Think we can get a comp buffet (or two)?

17. Another dying franchise go to Las Vegas to try to boost ratings. The NBA did it this year with the All-Star Game. So has numerous other shows like the Billboard Awards, Vh1 Divas Concert, and Miss America. It's not the location, but the TALENT OR LACK THEREOF, on the stage. The VMAs have sucked for many years now. When I think of the VMAs, I think of Guns N' Roses doing Welcome To The Jungle. Bon Jovi doing a acoustic version of Wanted Dead or Alive. Snoop with Murder Was The Case They Gave Me. Alanis Morrisette bringing down the house with You Outta Know. We can't forget the diva the set it off, Madonna with Like A Virgin. You can't bring back those days. These musicians today don't have that kind of magnetic superstar appeal.

20. The BEST thing to do for SWA is check-in via internet, and bring one small bag...
difficult for the gals, I know! But check in before you go to the airport.

22. Is Fred Thompson going to be in Vegas at the VMAs? What are you talking about?
This is not about politics, besides Barack Obama's youth would be a better fit for
the VMAs anyway.

24. Just pointing out that the many Americans cares more about the VMA'S????? than the shaping of our country...who cares about the VMA's or MTV or all this other mindless information.

Are any of you even aware of politics until the actual vote, when it get's "popular" to do so? Remember Paris telling every one to vote...she didn't vote. Or Ben Afleck telling everyone to register....he never registered....just thought I would interupt the mindless thoughts...and maybe get people to think about more important issues that actually matter. Fred Thompson will possibly keep the "stars" from really "blowing up" and protect them from people who hate them and wish them dead. (Terrorists)

Fred Thompson will defend our country. Do you really want BO or HC to be who is defending you against the MIddle east mindset...think about it.

This space expouses so much junk..thought I would add some...

25. Hey jacqjacq,

Do you work for Fred Thompson or something? Why don't you wait and see if he gets
into the presidential race? Until he's in, it's all talk...just like Al Gore maybe getting in.

27. jacq- I love it!!!!! No one gives a damn anymore about what really matters. And yes, there's no way in hell I would want to see a woman as president, even though I am a woman myself). We dont think the same way as men. She'll get us into too much trouble. And what the hell is with BO? Muslim????!!!!!! as president??? Isnt that why we are in Iraq to begin with??? So all you people need to get off the Award crap and start paying attention to what matters. Because you people that dont care or pay attention are always the first to bitch when you dont like something!!!!

Posted at 3:12AM on May 2nd 2007 by jacq said a mouthful!!! Keep it up!!!

30. The Bastards !

Its not like they are going to busy playing music videos, so why not review the VMAs like they always do. I guess Youtube will be busy for anyone who missed out and has to work on Sunday.

I wonder if Brintey will be back ????
