Kelly Ignores 800 lb. Rosie in the Room

Kelly Ripa put an awkward sock in it this morning, when it came to addressing her bitch-brawl with Rosie O'Donnell, and made it very clear that she didn't see Clay Aiken's pointed goof last night on their now infamous hand-over-mouth incident.

On "Live with Regis and Kelly," the usually chirpy banter between Ripa and Regis tiptoed around the biggest controversy Kelly has ever been involved in, with no mention at all of Ripa's phoned-in on-air feud yesterday with O'Donnell on "The View." Regis made an oblique reference to it when, before thrusting a large oxygen pump into Kelly's gaping mouth, he said his own hands were "clean as a whistle." And the irony of Ripa wearing a surgical mask and gloves when receiving a flu shot later in the show was rather hard to ignore.

Earlier, Regis asked Kelly whether she'd seen the American Music Awards show last night. On the telecast, broadcast on Ripa's own ABC network, Clay Aiken came out to present with Tori Spelling, and while Clay jabbered on, Tori clapped her hand over Aiken's mouth, saying, "I'll tell you where that hand's been later." Kelly replied that, in fact, she was watching a Tony Bennett special on a rival network. Talk to that hand, Clay!

121. KELLY ACTS LIKE A SPOILED BRAT. SHE SHOULD SHUT
UP AND LET HER GUEST SPEAK ONCE IN A WHILE. I HAVE
NEVER BEEN A FAN OF HERS AND NOW I KNOW WHY I HAVE
HAD THIS FEELING THAT SHE THINKS SHE IS JUST GREAT.
SHE KNEW WHERE CLAY'S HAND HAD BEEN, THEN SHE CAME\
UP WITH SEVERAL OTHER REASONS FOR HER REACTION.
HER LOOKS SAID IT ALL :"LIKE WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS"?

122. I started watching that particular show but changed it because Aiken seemed to have a somewhat combative attitude & brought the show down. As for Rosie O'Donnell & her remarks about the incident, she is way off line. I do beleive that O'Donnell is homophobic in that she sees anti-gay people all over the place

123. I'm betting that if Rosie O'Donnell continues the way she is going, using The View as a pulpit for her outrageous remarks, within a year Barbara Walters will come to realize what a mistake she made in bringing her on board & fire her.

124. Well I think Kelly made way to much of the hand over her mouth incident. She probably picks up more germs in a day from her 3 kids ( because we all know kids are the big germ carriers this time of year) than she would from Clay Aiken. Also Clay was an invited guest to her show and as such she should have treated him with a little more respect and actually let him get a word in edgewise. And as for Rosie she does need to be less heterophobic not everything is about being gay. Though I do think that Kelly would not have said that comment to someone who is obviously hetero.

125. #4 Cecilia, you are correct in what you say except for one thing that all those things you mention she CHOSE to do on her own it was not thrown upon her. How did she know that maybe just before he came out on stage that he didn't just pee pee and did not wash his hands then that would get on her face and maybe even in her mouth yuckkkkkk. As far as Clay or any male celebrity is concerned they should be informed that all hands should be left off of Regis and Kelly unless they agree to it before the show starts by Gelman or one of the staff. Now Clay is just starting his career and maybe he wants to wait to come out but who cares what he is. He has a nice voice lets enjoy that instead of trying to find out what he does in the privicy of his bedroom. As far as Rosie is concerned Kelly (her Kelly) should tone her down a little she is getting to loud and voicing opinions that she should keep to her self. I don't know I love them all and enjoy them all so do what Yoko says and make Johns B'Day a day to forgive and forget!!!!!!!

126. If the person that put their hand over Kelly's mouth had been of another race, would Rosie had called Kelly a racist for reacting as she did?

128. Rosie had no business sticking her lesbian nose in the business of a heterosexual woman. She also has no business talking about anyone's sexuality other than her own lesbian self. She is not the queen lesbian champion for all homosexuals everywhere. She needs to stay in her own lesbian world with her own lesbian friends and leave the heterosexuals alone.
Doesn't that sound bad when someone has to bring up sexuality?

129. Rosie seems to be TOO sensitve about the homophobic stuff. That would never have entered my mind, nor the minds of many, gay or straight, except for her. Wrong is wrong, and Clay was wrong. Kelly is the hostess of this show and has a right to talk.

130. Kelly Ripa is totally justified to not want someone's hand shoved over her mouth on her own show, and it certainly doesnt make her a homophobe.
She tried to make a joke so she wouldnt say what she really thought, which was "What the f**k do you think you're doing?"

She is great - I like her a lot!

131. yes, kelly ripa did put her hand over regis' mouth on one of their shows. this is entirley different though. it wasn't for the same reason that clay did it to her and she and regis have a long relationship with each other. it's not like covering the hand of a person you had never met before like clay did. he just wanted to own the show and grandstand to sell more albums. he's a despicable little weasel and he should just fall off the planet... leaving her to her show. it IS her show when regis isn't there.. .go kelly... ur tite!!

132. This is less about Clay than anyone in the mix. Clay made a mistake, forgive him for it. Kelly has already said she has forgiven him. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that if Rosie hadn't gotten on her soapbox, this whole incident would have died a very peaceful death.

Rosie...the world does not care if you are gay. And just because you are a gay woman on a national tv show does not make you the self-appointed speaker for all gay (or assumed gay as in the case of Clay) people. Despite what you may think, a person's sexual preference is NOT what is on the forefront of other people's minds when they meet or work with someone. Yes, the show is called "The View" and yes, you gave your view, but have you considered that not every one of your views needs to be from the gay woman perspective? Why can't it be from just the woman perspective? Or the mother perspective? Or the talk show host perspective?

From what I saw, Kelly handled the situation as well as could be expected. Her comment to him was not in a colding manner, but a joking manner that said "I don't like that. Don't do it again." She did not go into any great detail about the "incident" until she was having to defend herself to Rosie. I for one am quite impressed with her standing up to Rosie.

In fact, I tried to post a comment to The View's webpage, but you can't. You can only email them. But surprisingly, you can't email Rosie...just Joy, Barbara and Elisabeth. Why is that? My opinion is that maybe they knew negative emails to Rosie would overload the server and cause problems.

133. clay never has to come out of any closets rosie did it for him all the homosexual celebrety community knows who their members are and now no one has to wonder {as if anyone had a doubt} but his actions on the r&k show were lacking respect and he had a chip on his shoulder right from the begining Kelly has never showed anything but the utmost respect and friendly welcomes to her many many cohosts she has always had great raport with everyone[ until clay aikin] but for heaven sake what reason did rosie have to stick her nose in for all she is doing is more and more damage to the view her big mouth has ruined it for meand many others. BARBARA WALTERS PLEASE TAKE NOTICE!!!!!!!!

134. Please.....Kelly is always nice to everyone. Personally, I would have knocked him out of his chair. He was obnoxious, rude.....and completely disrespectful. I'm a huge Rosie fan also......but, I can only assume she only saw that short few seconds of the show. Because if she had seen what lead up to it.....she would have damn sure knocked him out of that chair. Kelly was just taking it, taking it....laughing it off....and being pretty freaking gracious. I don't think her comment had anything at all to do with his sexual orientation and all to do with the fact that she was fed up with his rude behavior.

135. I side with kelly. It was rude of clay to do that and what she said is fair. I would have called him worse. If hes gonna be on a tv show he should know how to act.
